A key component to a strong business is its employee relationships.  As part of our commitment to providing small-to-mid-size business clients with the benefits of an in-house attorney, Sullivan & Ward, P.C. offers employment and labor services to aid its clients in preventing employee conflicts and successfully resolving employee conflicts that may arise despite prevention measures.

Prevention Services
Preventing employee conflicts starts with the knowledge and understanding of federal, state and local employment laws and regulations and the development and implementation of applicable policies.  We can assist your business in creating and updating current policies, including, harassment policies, time-off policies, and disciplinary policies, through a comprehensive employee manual.  We have the expertise to provide clients with the training and understanding necessary to maneuver through the complexity of employment laws and regulations.  We can provide advice concerning the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Iowa Civil Rights Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), COBRA rights, drug testing, and hiring and termination issues.  We are also available to assist with drafting effective employee contracts and severance packages if necessary.

Resolution Services
Despite our commitment to helping businesses prevent employee conflicts, employee disputes can still arise.  Our experienced attorneys can assist you with litigation matters, including wrongful discharge litigation and employment discrimination litigation.  In addition to assisting with litigation matters, we may be able to provide mediation services for certain disputes.
