Northwest Iowa Power Cooperative (NIPCO) presented the prestigious “N-Ovation” Award to John Ward, President and CEO of Sullivan & Ward, P.C. at its 2019 annual meeting, held April 2 in Sioux City.
The “N-Ovation Award” recognizes recipients for their years of dedication to NIPCO, the rural electric cooperative industry, a project or innovation, or other reason as identified by the NIPCO Board of Directors. It serves as a symbol of the time, both literally and figuratively, that the recipient has dedicated to the NIPCO organization.
Mr. Ward has dedicated 55 years serving as counsel to various electric generation and transmission utilities and distribution cooperatives throughout the country in the development of power supply and transmission arrangements and agreements. He has served as the lead attorney for negotiation of power supply agreements between investor-owned utilities, municipal utilities and G&T cooperatives providing for sharing of generation facilities, transmission facilities and operation of same. He has also provided primary representation of electric utilities in the development of financing agreements with RUS, CFC, Co-Bank, and other lending institutions for participation in power supply and transmission facilities. He has also served as an instructor and frequent lecturer for the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association and has served as President of the NRECA – G&T Lawyers Association.
His sincerity and loyalty has made lasting friendships with the NIPCO Board of Directors, the NIPCO staff, and the entire rural electric cooperative industry.
